Protecting privacy and dissent in the US

It’s been interesting to read the text of the Arms Trade Treaty. Enacting the treaty will require a registry of all imported arms, ammo, and related products. So that includes those fine Berettas. It also includes scopes and “related products” The impact is limited to imported guns, and we can prevent registry of arms made in the US and sold to US citizens. Not signing the treaty would weaken our economy further by sanctioning and blocking the sale (export) of US arms and arms-services. Safeguarding against the mandate of registry lists, even for domestic manufacture and sales, is the line of defense we need to hold. Be in touch with your lawmakers to ensure they’re educated and have you as a point of contact. Maybe this can even be a blessing in disguise - by bringing manufacturing back home as citizens reject having private data shipped overseas to be tracked by foreign governments. Inform your local stores that you’ll cease purchase of imported guns, ammo, and accessories, and will be researching products for evidence of foreign company involvement that would expose you to registry. Europe fiercely protects data privacy for its citizens - we need to lead by example and create and enforce even stronger privacy laws for gun owners in the US. Leading the way on such privacy laws could also set precedents that aid those supporting the return of 4th amendment rights that are being abused by the NSA and the Intelligence Directorate. And remember that arms cannot stop all tyranny. There is no one I can go shoot to stop the poisoning of my family’s well (and only source of water) that has happened, and continues to happen today, by poorly-regulated fracing.
