Dissent as the core-value for media messages
I think the US can strengthen the message of gun ownership, and its position among an expanding audience, by advancing the message of the importance of dissent. Descent is a key value for the practice of liberty. Dissent is enshrined in every facet of our Bill of Rights.(1) Today under the tyranny of a government spies and steals, dissent is a core issue in the minds of young and old. Individuals and organizations build new software technologies in support of media that protects dissent and is incapable of censorship. At the core of all these motivations are the first and second amendment rights. We all know that when oppressors seek to squash the voice of the people’s power they finally do it through violence. Private arms ownership is the ultimate symbol of dissent and its oldest ally. I think with Dissent stands the key to teaching our current generation the intellectual basis of arms ownership. We can teach people that the mentality of arms ownership is an intellectual weapon against tyranny, not a reclusive refuge into which one draws away from the true fight. However this fight will be a hard one within ourselves. We will fight against the hard-line voices that thorough and advanced education is an excessively liberal mindset. Indeed we must instead reinvent a curriculum. We must develop an educational process that mandates critical thinking and competent expression - personally, in writing, and with media literacy. Parents must be willing to humble themselves and embrace new ways in order to preserve the true essence of liberty and its thought process. We must become the auditors of core values, not the censors of what is new purely because it is new. (1)
