The Tzolkin is based on a periods of 13 moons and 20 suns, a 260-day cycle based on human rhythms. In coordination with the Ha'ab, a 360-day sun calendar, the movements of the Sun, Moon, Venus, Mars, Mercury, Jupiter may be tracked, as well as Sun Spot cycles and the precession of the Earth's axis.
